He then returned to Baghdad, Iraq where he practiced as a Paediatrician until his retirement in 2001.
During his years in Iraq he was much loved by the public whether they were his students, patients or colleagues. Many remember him fondly and remember his weekly programme "Al Usra wal Tifil" during the 1980's. He also helped set up annual sports days at Medical City with students competing against their lecturers. These events were enjoyed by all, and he often challenged his students to beat him at the 400metre run. He also enjoyed playing volleyball for the medical school and took part in matches with students and other teaching departments.
We his family, have received many warm wishes and everyone has fond memories of him. We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind words.
He is survived by his wife Sandra, son Faris, daughters Inas, Reem and Rena and 7 grandchildren.
